Meeting with the driver and guide in hotel.
Located at only 42 km from Rome, Cerveteri is an interesting destination, both for its range of historical, archaeological and naturalistic itineraries. The modern city centre, rising and unfolding over the tufaceous plain, was already the site of rudimentary dwelling as early the X Century B.C., that would grow in importance for a long time, becoming a major protagonist in the economic and political life in the Mediterranean World.
Etrusca "Kaisra" reached the height of its maximum expression between the VII and the III Century B.C., after which it fell under Roman domination. At the beginning of XII Century B.C., Ceri began to attract a growing population in its land, probably because of the fear of malaria or its strategically defensible natural rock fortress. The Etruscan centre at Kaisra was again repopulated in the XIII century, with name CAERE Vetus to distinguish it from the recent Borgo of Ceri. The modern centre of Ceri grew up from the probable place of the Etruscan Acropolis, reaching its present form by way of many modifications resulting in the picturesque medieval wall that surrounds P.zza Santa Maria Maggiore.
Visit one of the most important Etruscan Necropoli: "Banditaccia", which is the most expensive, characterized by Cinerary Tombs, Barrow Tombs, and Chamber Tombs carved into the "tufa rock".
