Meeting with the driver and the assistant in hotel. Departing from and returning to Florence, this tour takes you to one of the most picturesque parts of Tuscany - the Val d'Orcia. The tour starts in Montalcino. The vineyards around the town produce a wonderful wine called Vino Nobile di Montalcino. A wine tasting session at a nearby cellar (not included in the package) will give you an opportunity to sample the local vintages. After exploring this jewel, you’ll head towards the village of Pienza, a testament to one man's ambition and ego. At the height of the Renaissance in the 15th-century, Pope Pius II, with the help of architect Bernardo Rossellino, converted his tiny home-town village into an ‘ideal’ Renaissance city. This early experiment in town planning resulted in a unique collection of monuments. Pienza has gained some fame for being prominently features in movies like “Romeo and Juliet” by Franco Zefferelli and “The English Patient”. A visit to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo usually coincides with a daily liturgical performance by the local monks whose medieval songs help create a magical and unforgettable atmosphere.
