Meeting with the driver and the guide in hotel. An English speaking driver will be waiting for you at your hotel at the prearranged time that you decide to start your tour Naples & Pompeii. In the morning enjoy a fascinating walking tour of Naples, a difficult place for the casual tourist to like. Poverty, overcrowding, the hassles of crime and the volatile Neapolitans have given Naples a bad reputation over the years. But, with an expert local guide you'll come to love Naples as a mother loves her degenerate son. Wander through the narrow alleyways of the Spaccanapoli, one of Naples most poorest quarters where the daily lives of the Neapolitans unfold like a play. Sometimes comical, sometimes tragic, but never boring. You'll discover the true soul of the city as you explore the "hidden Napoli ". Visit the elaborately decorated Baroque church of Gesu Nuovo which is considered to be the historic heart of the city of Naples. At the Cappella Sansevero, richly decorated in Rococo style you'll visit the crypt of the church where anatomical experiments conducted by a local noble man in the 18th Century are gruesomely displayed. Emerging back in to the labyrinth of streets and alleyways of the Spaccanapoli, pause to enjoy Napoli 's best espresso and local pastries at one of city's most popular establishments. Living under the shadow of Vesuvius, the Neapolitans are very religious people and are particularly found of the city's patron saint San Gennaro whose dried blood contained in sealed vials liquefies once a year on the Saint's Birthday. During your time in Naples you could also visit the photogenic San Gregorio Armeno and enjoy views of the bay and perceive how Naples rests like a great amphitheatre around waters of the bay of Napoli. For those more interested in Pompeii and its ruins, you could take a tour of the National Archaeological museum that now houses many of the relics unearthed at Pompeii, instead of touring the city centre. After a casual lunch at a local restaurant (not included in the package), you will head towards Ancient Pompeii to explore the well-preserved ruins that date back to 80 B.C. and many insights into how life was in Roman Times. You'll tour will include: visits to the interiors of the homes of Pompeii's wealthier citizens, Ancient street café's where locals dined where you'll learn about traditional Roman cuisine, the amphitheatre where we'll talk of the Gladiators and the events staged in the arena. As well as enjoying numerous anecdotes about life in Pompeii that will include some of the Graffiti dating back to Roman times that are still visible throughout the ruins. Return to hotel.
